Nailing the urban art of freestyle skateboarding is now at people’s fingertips thanks to skate fortwo – the new retro-esque game from smart.
Backing up smart’s ‘skate fortwo’ smash hit online film, which is viewable at youtube.co.uk/smartfortwouk and features pro freestyle skateboarders Kilian Martin and Alfredo Urbon performing tricks on the world’s first-ever tandem skateboard, skate fortwo sees players going head-to-head against an awesome course on a virtual version of the double length skateboard.
Echoing the classic gaming style of the 1980s, skate fortwo rewards players for rocketing over obstacles, pulling-off gnarly tricks and unearthing hidden objects by unlocking bonus stunts and behind-the-scenes footage.
skate fortwo fuses its old-skool style with bang-up-to-date technology, the platform-neutral game being accessible by anyone who has a smartphone, tablet or PC. It’s also one of the first branded games that doesn’t need a ‘native application’ – a pre-installed app – to be playable on iPhone and Android devices.
Players’ friends can get in on the action too, skate fortwo boasting a built-in social networking function that asks the gamer to choose a Facebook friend to pick up the challenge if they crash out. The feature means the player can clock up more mileage, increasing their chances of winning a real-life tandem skateboard.
skate fortwo launches this week and its addictive concept is the brainwave of smart and social media agency, Holler.
