PARIS MOTOR SHOW LETTER

Dear Colleague

Innovative new products, the very latest vehicle technologies, forward-looking drive concepts and exciting show cars: the press days of the “Mondial de l’Automobile” in Paris on 23 and 24 September once again give us the opportunity to demonstrate the expertise and broad scope of the DaimlerChrysler Group and its passenger car brands.  Complementing the brand presence, some pioneering solutions aimed at cutting emissions and fuel consumption will be shown under the heading of “Energy for the Future” at the DaimlerChrysler stand.

The DaimlerChrysler UK Press and PR team will also be in Paris to help put a UK perspective on the various topics of the show.  For me personally, the show offers a further opportunity to get to know you, our national media representatives, and to reflect on – quite literally – my first 100 days with this multi-faceted organisation.

We look forward to seeing you at the following press events and, of course, at any time on our stands.

Thursday, 23 September, 2004, 11:45 a.m. to 12 noon: Mercedes-Benz Press Conference

Mercedes-Benz will be continuing its second product offensive with the world premiere of three vehicles at the Paris Motor Show. The brand will be offering a glimpse into the near future with its “Vision B” Compact Sports Tourer and its “Vision R” Grand Sports Tourer. Each of these was developed as an independent new vehicle concept. Together, the two concept cars will round out Mercedes-Benz’s presentation of the Sports Tourer model family.  The “Vision B” Compact Sports Tourer is marked by its emotive design and a new standard of spaciousness in the segment for compact vehicles. Meanwhile, the “Vision R” Grand Sports Tourer brings together unparalleled travel comfort with the best characteristics from various vehicle concepts. Also making its world debut will be the Mercedes-Benz CLS 55 AMG. This new top model from the CLS-Class impressively combines elegance with outstanding performance.

Thursday, September 23, 2004, 12 noon to 12:15 p.m.: smart Press Conference

On display in Paris will be not only the smart forfour cdi — the diesel variant of the new four-seater — but also the smart forfour sportstyle edition. Both these cars will be making their motor show debuts. With its sporty look, the special edition model guarantees plenty of driving pleasure, thanks to its 90 kW (122 hp) BRABUS engine, sports chassis and BRABUS wheels. In addition to the smart press conference, you are invited to start the Press Days with a smart breakfast (from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on September 23 and 24, 2004).

Thursday, 23 September, 2004, 12:15 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Chrysler Group Press Conference

The Chrysler Group will also continue its product offensive with the introduction of the new JeepĀ® Cherokee and Cherokee Renegade featuring a new 2.8L CRD engine with variable geometry turbocharger, and a host of exterior, interior and technical improvements. The Jeep stand will also display the popular Jeep Rescue concept vehicle. For the Chrysler brand,
highlights include the all-new Chrysler 300C Saloon and Touring, the high-performance Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6, and the introduction of an innovative new feature for the Chrysler Grand Voyager that represents yet another leap ahead for the minivan segment in Europe.

Wednesday, 22 September, 2004, from 6:00 p.m. and Thursday, 23 September, 2004, from 5:00 p.m.: DaimlerChrysler hospitality event at “Le Bistrot”

This year, for the first time in Paris, we will also be offering hospitality at the end of each press day at the DaimlerChrysler “Bistrot” at the Hotel Mercure Paris Porte de Versailles, 69, boulevard Victor, 75015 Paris (directly opposite the exhibition centre). Please join us there to chat to DaimlerChrysler representatives and other members of the press in an informal and relaxing atmosphere.

DaimlerChrysler UK Limited: representation in Paris

And of course the team from Milton Keynes will be on hand on both press days – mobiles at the ready.  Please call any of us if you can’t find us in person.
