smart, the iconic automotive brand, is tempting buyers with free motor insurance when they buy a new smart city-coupe or cabrio between 1 January and 31 March 2004.

This special offer, which excludes the topline BRABUS models, includes one year’s fully comprehensive motor insurance for the policyholder and two named drivers, along with £500 audio cover.

Also, until 31 March, customers can buy a smart cabrio pure at the lowest ever price of £7,999 on the road.  This represents a saving of £814 and reinforces the smart cabrio as the best value open top motoring on British roads.

The opportunity for customers to buy a smart city-coupe pure with 61 bhp engine for the same price as an entry level model with a lower powered 50 bhp engine, has been extended until 31 March 2004.  At just £6,578 on the road, this means a saving for customers of £435.

Commenting on these offers, Jeremy Simpson, Head of smart in the UK & Ireland, said: “These offers give even more customers the chance to own and drive a smart and represent excellent value for money.”

Reflecting on 2003, he continued, “smart has had another extremely positive year, outperforming most of its competitors in the small car segment.  We’re anticipating a strong response in the showrooms in the first quarter of 2004 ahead of the smart forfour launch in the autumn.”

A total of 9,744 smart were registered in 2003, a growth in sales of 28.4% on the previous year, and the fourth consecutive year of strong sales growth for the brand.
